Medifast Diet
The Medifast diet is a low calorie diet designed to help people who are seriously overweight lose weight fast. The Medifast diet plan is used in several hospital weight loss centers – hence the name – and was developed by a team of doctors. Medifast weight control centers should be the first stop for people with more than 100lbs to lose, but people with slightly less can follow the Medifast diet plan at home. The diet requires a serious commitment, but most dieters report serious results, with weight lost rates of 2 to 5lbs a week. The Medifast Diet Plan The Medifast diet plan is also called the “five and one method.” Dieters on the plan eat five Medifast diet drinks or Medifast diet food meal replacements a day, followed by one so called “lean and green” meal. The meal consists of a lean protein and vegetables. The plan also requires people to drink 64 ounces of water a day. Any other beverages, including coffee and tea, must be taken in addition to the water, not in place of it. The diet does not advocate exercise while on the plan because the caloric content is so low. If you decide to exercise anyway, it must be low intensity exercise for short periods of time.
Does The Medifast Weight Loss Program Work?
The Medifast diet is considered the most successful diet plan, short of surgery, for the very overweight. If people stick to the plan, weight loss is rapid. Keeping the weight off is another thing entirely. The Medifast diet recommends that people slowly introduce new foods into their diet, and then for maintenance, eat one to three Medifast meals a day, plus exercise five days a week. Even a slight deviation from this plan can cause rapid weight gain to occur. Transitioning from the Medifast liquid diet to real food again almost certainly will lead to at least a small weight gain. Get The Medifast Diet To get the Medifast diet, you can contact your doctor, or order the meal replacements online. Again, the Medifast diet, or New Lifestyle diet, as it is sometimes called, is for the significantly obese. This is not a plan for someone with 10 or 20 lbs to lose.
