Mayo Clinic Diet
Many people know the Mayo Clinic as the world renowned medical center that is responsible for many cancer and heart disease treatment breakthroughs, and that has saved the lives of countless people who thought their case was hopeless. A major part of the Mayo Clinic’s health and wellness regime for patients is a healthy eating plan. The Clinic believes that diseases can be partially treated, and even prevented, by getting the right nutrition. Because of this, however, rumors began to spread about a “Mayo Clinic diet” that many people turned to in order to lose weight and improve their health. This thing is, though, that the Mayo Clinic is not the brains behind the Mayo Clinic diet. No one knows exactly where the diet came from, but people who have followed the Mayo Clinic diet claim it has helped them control their weight.
Mayo Clinic Diet Plan
The Mayo Clinic diet plan is based around eating a certain combinations of food rather than calorie counting. The diet is sometimes called the Mayo Clinic Grapefruit diet or the Mayo Clinic Egg and Grapefruit diet, because each meal starts with a grapefruits, and the diet includes eggs every day. The idea behind the grapefruit is that it kick starts the metabolism at the start of a meal. The Mayo Clinic diet instructions say that you can eat foods in any quantity you want, until you are full, as long as you eat at least the minimum meals listed. You cannot eat between meals, however, nor can you have starchy vegetables or bread. You follow the diet for 12 days, and then take 2 days off, and repeat that cycle until you reach your desired weight.
