Fad Diets
Fad diets; it seems like nearly everyone has tried at least one. From cabbage soup to grapefruits to carb free meals, everyone has at one time or another pinned their weight loss hopes on the latest diet craze. The questions remain, though: are fad diets the best way to lose weight? If you lose weight on a fad diet, will you keep it off? And are fad diets safe? Whatever the answers to these questions are, many popular fad diets show no signs of going away any time soon. Fad Diets – Why Are They Bad? Fad diets have many negatives. For one, they teach people to eat in an unhealthy way. Sure, you may lose weight if you subsist on cabbage soup/grapefruits/all protein/all fruits and vegetables, but you are not getting the balanced variety of nutrients you need for health. The restrictiveness of fad diets often set people up to fail. How long can you stick to any crazy food plan before falling off the wagon, and falling hard? Even if you do stick to a fad diet long enough to reach your goal weight, once you go off the diet, you are doomed to gain all that weight back – and in many cases, you’ll gain all that weight back and more.
